Two Gang members Arrested for Weapons Charges.

On Monday, November 26th, 2018 Southwest Patrol Officers Luis Carrillo and Gilberto Avila were conducting proactive patrol in the area of N. Mariposa Street and E. Madison Avenue due to an increase in gang and prostitution activities occurring in the neighborhood. While in the area, officers observed Lee Street Criminal Street Gang Member Jamal Cole, Klette MOB Criminal Street Gang Member Timothy Williams, and Klette MOB Criminal Street Gang Associate Treyvon Ransom. Upon making contacted with these subjects, Williams immediately discarded a sweater to the ground. When this sweater was searched, officers located a 40 caliber, Astra Arms A100 firearm. Williams was immediately taken into custody. Officers later determined the firearm had a high capacity magazine containing 13 live rounds of 40 caliber ammunition.

A warrants check on all three subjects revealed Jamal Cole is on active felony probation for possessing a firearm in a school zone. Treyvon Ransom is on active felony probation for the possession of a concealed firearm, and had a felony warrant issued for his arrest. Williams was also determined to be on probation for criminal threats. Under Miranda, Williams admitted to possessing the firearm for protection against rival gang members. Williams was later booked into the Fresno County Jail for various weapon related offenses and Ransom was booked on his outstanding warrant.

This arrest and seizure is the 150th illegal firearm seized by the Southwest Officer this year. This proactive approach has assisted in the reduction of shootings and violent crime in the Southwest Policing District. Officers will continue their efforts to make a direct impact in the Southwest community and to reduce all crime and make our streets safe.

The Fresno Police Department would like to remind the public that Crime Stoppers has enhanced the rewards for information related to gang members / subjects who are involved in narcotic sales, firearm possession, and human trafficking. The new campaign consists of the following monetary rewards for anonymous tips. If a gang member is arrested for possessing a handgun, the reward is $2,000. If a gang member is arrested for possessing an assault rifle, the reward is $3,000. If a gang member is arrested for human trafficking, the reward is $3,000 and if a gang member is involved in drug sales, the reward is $1,000.
